NanoXplore is looking for a high-caliber Research Engineer to join the CTO Office. This is a unique, high-visibility role designed for a technical visionary who can navigate the space between blue-sky research and industrial R&D.

You will act as a technical catalyst, working directly with the CTO to define the future roadmap of our FPGA technologies and ensuring our R&D teams are equipped with the most advanced architectural insights.

 

YOUR MISSION

  • Architectural Research: Explore and evaluate new FPGA fabric architectures to improve density, power efficiency, and radiation hardness.
  • Proof-Of-Concept: Participate in developing architectures and implementations that challenge the status quo of current FPGA fabrics.
  • Performance Analysis: Conduct quantitative trade-off studies between different hardware implementations (ASIC vs. FPGA vs. DSP).
  • Technical Advocacy: Assist in preparing high-level technical dossiers, patent filings, and presentations for key stakeholders and international partners.
  • Tech Scouting: Stay abreast of academic research and industry trends in programmable logic and reconfigurable computing.

 

YOUR PROFILE

We need a "Hardware/Software Tinkerer" with a researcher’s discipline—someone who is happiest with a soldering iron in one hand and a keyboard in the other. We are looking for a person with a researcher’s curiosity who enjoys "breaking" things to understand how they work and thrive in an environment where there isn't always a pre-existing manual & the ability to zoom out to see the 5-year roadmap, then zoom in to debug a specific timing violation in an IC

 

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Education: Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with a focus on Microelectronics.
  • Technical Proficiency:
    • Expertise in scripting for automation (Python, Tcl, or Perl).
    • Experience with VHDL or Verilog/SystemVerilog.
    • Deep understanding of FPGA Internal Architectures (CLBs, LUTs, Interconnects, DSPs).
    • Familiarity with EDA tools (Vivado, Quartus, or NanoXplore’s Impulse)

 

PRACTICAL INFORMATION

  • Contract type: Permanent (CDI)
  • Location: Preferred location is Sèvres, but open to the other sites : Jacou / Meylan / Caen
  • Package: salary according to profile + internal benefits
  • Start date: as soon as possible

Embedded Systems

Bridging the gap between silicon and software, the Embedded Systems team designs the low-level tools that make NanoXplore’s FPGAs truly usable and powerful. 


Their core mission : developing the main SDK (Software Development Kit), firmware, and all embedded components that enable seamless configuration, control, and integration of our devices. From bootloaders and drivers to board support packages and diagnostic tools, they ensure our chips speak the right language whether on a satellite, in a defense system, or in a test environment. Their work is foundational : without it, nothing runs. 


What sets them apart is their ability to think system-wide. They work closely with hardware teams and application engineers, adapt to evolving specs, and support real-world use cases with reliability and reactivity.
