NanoXplore announces the acquisition of Scalinx, strengthening its position in sovereign microelectronics
The combination of these two leading European technology companies will bring together complementary digital and analog expertise to create a unique microelectronics design offering in Europe. NanoXplore plans to integrate nearly all of Scalinx’s teams.
Paris, 3 September 2026 – NanoXplore, a leading European designer of critical electronic components for the space, defence and avionics industries, announces the acquisition of Scalinx, a European fabless semiconductor company specialising in signal conversion chips.
The transaction brings together two European companies operating in strategic technology sectors and sharing the same ambition: to preserve and further develop in Europe the expertise essential to technological sovereignty. NanoXplore plans to integrate nearly all of Scalinx’s teams, helping to retain rare expertise in advanced integrated circuit design in Europe.
Scalinx designs components that convert analog signals into digital data, and digital data into analog signals. These technologies are essential for telecommunications, defence systems, avionics, automotive applications and 5G infrastructure. NanoXplore, for its part, develops programmable digital components and custom integrated circuits, including FPGAs, SoC FPGAs and ASICs, designed for critical and high-reliability environments.
The combination will enable NanoXplore to cover a broader part of the microelectronics design value chain by bringing together digital, analog and mixed-signal expertise. The combined company will therefore be able to offer an integrated portfolio encompassing programmable components, custom integrated circuits, signal conversion technologies, intellectual property (IP) blocks and advanced design services.
This complementary expertise will notably enable the development of complex RFSoC architectures capable of combining, within a single component, several functions that are often handled separately today: receiving or transmitting radio-frequency signals, converting them into digital data and processing them in real time. By integrating more functions into a single chip, these technologies make it possible to design equipment that is more compact, faster, more energy-efficient and more reliable. They will therefore strengthen NanoXplore’s ability to address the needs of companies operating in the telecommunications, space, defence, avionics and automotive industries.
The acquisition will also create a larger European design house, capable of pooling investments, managing several complex programmes simultaneously and providing a competitive alternative to non-European players.
Édouard Lepape, Chief Executive Officer of NanoXplore, said:“The acquisition of Scalinx marks a major milestone in our ambition to build a European champion in critical microelectronics. By combining our digital expertise with Scalinx’s analog and signal conversion capabilities, we will be able to offer an integrated solution that is unique in Europe. We are also particularly pleased to welcome the Scalinx teams and to help preserve this rare technological expertise in Europe.”
This acquisition is part of NanoXplore’s growth strategy and strengthens its ability to provide European companies with critical technologies that are fully controlled, competitive and tailored to both civilian and defence markets
